Lord Robert and his bride (The Duke's Brothers Book 2) Page 13
Much to his surprise, Julia sat up and playfully pushed Robert back. He rolled onto his back on the bed as Julia removed his trousers from around his ankles. She positioned herself on top of him, her hand guiding his shaft to her warm centre. A short gasp escaped Julia’s mouth as she lowered herself onto him, his cock squeezed tightly by her pussy.
Her hands pressed down against Robert’s chest as her hips began to move. Robert groaned and placed his hands on her hips, intensifying her movements. Her breasts moved with every motion she made, and it was delightful to watch. Her rich, brown locks bounced in perfect synchronicity to her movements, her lips pouting as she grinded her hips against his pelvis.
She leaned forward, kissing Robert’s neck. Robert thrust upwards, burying himself deeper inside, her moans urging him on.
As the desire inside him began to build, Robert sat up into a sitting position, and flipped them over so Julia was now on her back. He weaved his fingers into the spaces between hers, pressed her hands into the soft bedsheets, and continued to pound into her.
Julia’s gasps and moans grew louder, quicker and more ragged.
The pleasure of her body beneath his was dragging him closer and closer the edge. He quickened his thrusts, breathing heavily against her neck.
Julia arched her back, gripped Robert’s hands tightly and expelled a loud moan. Her pleasure grabbed hold of Robert’s and they both tumbled over the edge.
Robert cried out as his orgasm hit him and he released his seed into his wife. Long moments of pleasure pulsed through him until he finally collapsed on top of her.
“Oh, my,” she whispered, stroking his hair and holding him to her.
Robert lifted his head and gazed down at his beautiful wife. Julia’s brow furrowed.
“What is it?” she asked.
He smiled as brightly as he could. “I simply realised once again that I am the luckiest man in the world to have someone as wonderful as you in my life. And that I would not have accomplished anything this past year, if not for you.”
“Nonsense,” she said, still breathing heavily. “You were destined for great things before you even met me, Robert.”
“That may be so, but you inspired me to make those destinies a reality,” he said, brushing a lock of wayward hair from her neck.
“And I will continue to do my best my inspire you to achieve even greater things in your life.”
“I have no doubt about that,” Julia said with a smile and lowered her hand, resting it on her chest.
“My darling?”
“Yes, my dearest?” she asked and gazed at him with apprehension.
“I am aware that this may not perhaps be the right time, but there is something I must tell you.”
“What is it?” she asked.
“I have arranged with Broadwood Hospital that we may visit your mother tomorrow morning,” he said.
Julia’s brows shot up and she stared at him. “You did?”
“Indeed. I know you have been saddened since the lack of her presence at our wedding, I made it my top priority to arrange visitation with her.”
A small smile formed on her lips and her eyes filled with love and gratitude. “Thank you, Robert. You are the most wonderful man.”
“I simply want to give you everything your heart desires, my love.”
“There is nothing more that I wish to have, Robert. You have already bestowed upon me more than I ever thought possible,” she said in a whisper.
“I can say the same thing of you, my love,” he said softly, as the moonlight through the window bathed his beautiful lady in a sliver glow. “Rest well, my wife, for in the morning, we will visit your mother.”
“I would like that very much,” she said to him, closing her eyes sleepily.
He hoped Mrs. Gould will find him likeable and a good match for her daughter, but he shifted those thoughts to the side.
If Mrs. Gould was at all as wonderful as her daughter, he had nothing to worry about.
Her body relaxed against his, and Robert fell asleep with the love of his life in his arms.
The next morning, they made their way to the sanatorium where Julia’s mother resided, and Robert noticed the anxious expression on Julia’s face. He knew she had done her best to remain calm, but this was a stressful thing, to be sure.
However, Robert had one more surprise before they arrived. “Did you hear about what has happened to your charming cousin, Freddy?” he asked his wife, struggling to contain the smile that lifted his lips.
She turned to him, her anxiety forgotten for a moment as her eyes brightened. “No, I didn’t. Please tell me. You have news of him?”
Robert nodded. “Indeed. As you know, Freddy disappeared not long after that day at Arabella’s and no one has heard from him. It seems that when his father once again refused to pay his debts, Freddy decided to flee.”
She gasped. “Flee? What? The country?”
He nodded. “Yes. The authorities found him at the docks in Portsmouth, trying to flee to the continent.”
Julia put a hand to her mouth, but he could see the small smile that curled around her lips. “And what happened?”
Robert grinned. This was the best part. “His lenders have called in their debts and Freddy will go on trial next week. He could end up in debtor’s prison. Or worse.”
Julia tried to stifle the giggle by pressing her hand to her mouth, but some of the delighted noise still escaped. “How terrible,” she managed to say.
Robert snorted and reached over to touch her hand. “After everything he did to you, he deserves to be drawn and quartered. Anything less than that is a gift to him.”
As they walked through the gates and underneath a large stone arch to the hospital, Robert squeezed her hand, silently letting her know that he was right beside her and that everything would be all right. He would never leave her side. She reciprocated a brief smile before turning her attention back to the door in front of them.
Robert could not help but admire her in that moment. She was attired in a long-sleeved dark green dress, her rich brown hair pinned at the nape of her neck, and a matching green feathered hat. She appeared older and wiser, and the strength she radiated was truly admirable.
The door suddenly opened and a nurse dressed in white greeted them. “Right this way, Lord and Lady Melton. We have been expecting you.”
Robert and Julia were led down a rather long hallway to a large sitting area where light streamed in from all angles through the windows.
“Please wait here. We will bring Mrs. Gould shortly.”
“Thank you,” Robert said.
Julia drew in a deep breath as they sat on the sofa, waiting for Julia’s mother to be brought in. It was a very short wait, or at least it seemed as such, then a set of large wooden doors opened and two figures appeared in the hallway.
Julia immediately rose to her feet. “Mother.”
“Julia? Is that you?”
The resemblance between mother and daughter was rather extraordinary. Julia rushed forward and embraced the woman. They had the same rich, brown hair, the same petite frame. Their smiles and giggles were also very similar, as well as the intense manner of their gazes.
It truly made Robert happy to see Julia lovingly and happily hugging her mother. He did not wish to introduce himself or interject. He wanted to give Julia the space and time with her mother she so desperately needed.
“This must be Robert, from your letters,” Mrs. Gould said with a smile as they approached him. “And he is even more handsome than you said, my child.”
“It truly is a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Gould,” Robert said with a warm smile.
“Come here,” her mother said and embraced him. “Thank you for looking after my Julia.”
“It is a pleasure,” Robert said.
As Robert, Julia and Mrs. Gould sat on the sofas, Robert watched as Julia and her mother began to converse as though they had never spent a single moment apart.
Robert coul
d not be happier how his life had turned out. He would never have imagined he would be married to someone such as Julia and loved in return as fiercely as he loved her.
